Ferris State University Fine Art Gallery

Pause. Look Again.

Through color and spatial relationships, HOMEBODY invited reflection on how we experience the spaces around us — and within us. Pfleghaar’s work draws from everyday environments to explore perception, presence, and connection. During the exhibition, visitors engaged the work through colored lenses — transforming what was seen and revealing how perception can shift with even the smallest change.

About the Artist

Michael Pfleghaar is an artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned his MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His work is included in permanent collections such as the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Steelcase Inc., Herman Miller, the State of Michigan, and Grand Valley State University.

A Designed Experience

The exhibition identity, promotions, and environmental graphics were developed by students in the Branding Experience Design course at Ferris State University, led by Alison Popp — including Lana Bol, Jessica Decker, Ethan Orcutt, Jaz’ming Wadley, Evan Eisenhauer, Lane Guzniczak, Angelo Lucchesi, and Olivia Van Dyne. The exhibition has concluded, but its invitation remains: Pause. Look again.

I loved how the design embeds so many thoughtful enhancements that encourage us to slow down and consider a new perspective.

We all loved the design students' work, just amazing, looking at every detail.

I wasn't prepared for how much fun the exhibit would be.
